On Saturday we ran the 17th consecutive Euroyachts Jeanneau Fun Race. Fourteen Jeanneau yachts started the pursuit race to Colintraive off Largs Yacht haven in very light conditions. The wind almost died completely for the later starting, faster boats, enabling the Sun Rise 34 “Glorfinda”, the Sun Odyssey 40 DS “El Obied” and the Sun Odyssey 379 “Anne of Bookham” to build up a useful gap between them and faster boats. In the end however the excellently sailed Sun Fast 40 “Aztec” did just enough to pip “Glorfinda” on the shortened course finish line off Ardyne.
All of the boats motored to Colintraive for the traditional reception/prize giving at the Hotel. Thanks to all of the sailors, the SSI and CCC for start/finish respectively and to Patricia and her team at the Colintraive Hotel.
Some pictures follow (including one taken by Angus of another event taking place in close proximity to the Jeanneau fleet!).
Euroyachts Jeanneau Fun Race date. This year our event will be run on the 8th of September. Get in touch for details.
Our last scheduled new yacht handover for this season. A new SO 419 leaves Largs this morning after a mega quick commissioning job for her home port of Tobermory.
Efficient use of space! This brokerage sale Merry Fisher left us this week for Ireland with an unusual companion…..
The week end of the 19th and 20th of May will see us once again hosting a boat and car trialling couple of days. In the water we will have a Prestige 420, Velasco 37, NC9, Merry Fisher 895 and 605, along with two Brig Ribs. If you are interested in testing or trying any of these please call. As in previous years Porsche Glasgow will be here with a few cars that will be available for a test drive. As we write the weather looks set to be perfect for what has always been hailed as an enjoyable and fun event.
