Whether buying new or used, sail or power, the experience of our senior
management will prove invaluable to any buyer.
In the new boat sales market one of the most important matters to be
addressed in addition to the choice of boat is the specification. Having
delivered in excess of one thousand new boats successfully to markets as
diverse as Scandinavia, Japan, U.K. and the Caribbean, there is no one in
the north better placed to offer sound advice on all matters of new boat fit
out and selection.
When purchasing a used craft the potential pit falls are not to be
underestimated. Issues such as title, precise specifications and
descriptions are all worthy of concern. Ensuring that they are thoroughly
investigated and fairly represented is part of our responsibility is
brokers. Once again our depth of experience helps to serve both sellers and
purchasers alike.
As brokers, in keeping with B.M.I.F. guidelines our policy is to recommend
each purchaser to instruct a competent surveyor to inspect any potential
purchase. Although the survey should not be thought of as a "bargaining
tool", often, apart from liaising with the different parties, such as yards,
surveyors and contractors our man will handle any negotiations with sellers
required after survey. He will also advise on interpretation of surveyor's
reports.
Quite apart from our expertise in the mechanics of purchasing a used boat,
we generally have between our Largs and Troon offices a broad
selection of pre-owned craft available at any one time. Please visit our
Brokerage section for more information. If we do not have what you are
looking for please let us know, as we are increasingly sourcing boats from
fellow distributors in the Jeanneau group throughout Europe.
